Default Wanting to add Blu to a Dell XPS

Just wondering what it would cost me to add a Blu-Ray drive to a Dell XPS laptop. Would I have to change anything that I have on it now or would a clear swap be enough?

I hope you either have a XPS m1710 or a 1730 with a high end graphics card (7950 GTX or above)

Go to Ebay and type in either UJ 210 or Uj 220. (The later is better because it burns at 2x however if you just wanna watch films the 210 is just fine)

If you have the XPS420, the door is too small for Sony 4X BD burner, I have to cut it, very bad design on Dell part.

No I have the 1530 which will still work with a BR drive I do believe. Graphics card can be changed so thats not a biggie. Thanks for the reply I'll get on Ebay and see whats up....

I use a 1710 and it is very demanding maybe I should try playing it w/o hardware acceleration.

You are going to have a HARD HARD time getting a blu ray drive for the 1530 mainly because of 2 reasons after reading around and doing some research I've discovered this.

Your notebook is thin and low profile

You must have a Slot Drive Blu Ray drive the only one avail is the uj-215

You probably don't have to upgrade your videocard I'm assuming you have a 8000 series something correct?

Good Luck, and Mad Props to you if you can pull this off. My M1710 didn't have blu ray and I had make alot of adjustments for the Blu Ray but finally got it, I hope you can do the same.
