Default How does a 1080p Passive 3D display handle 720p 3D content.

A 1080p passive 3D display will use half it's resolution to display 3D content therefore you get 1920x540 (or 960x1080) per eye. I was curious as to how one would handle 720p 3D content. Any 720p 3D content would be displaying 1280x720 to each eye on an active 3D display.

Since 1920x540 is a higher resolution than 1280x720 does that mean there wouldn't be any loss of quality when doing 720p 3D on a 1080p passive 3D display?

EDIT: Oops, can a mod move this to the 3D section?

I would imagine the 720p content would still be scaled to 1080 by the display, or player, or anything in-between. Upscaling can create artifacts and perceived loss of detail. It's then up to the display's method of presenting 3D material, which could further be perceived as loss of detail.

Also, it is said that our eyes are most sensitive to vertical resolution than horizontal, so while 1920x540 may have more pixels than 1280x720, 720 would have appeared more detailed.
