The trilogy box set granted early access to the sequels.

So when they are repackaged next year, we will see the FN trailer.

Calm down. If they're handling FN 3D like TLK 3D, it should hit BD within weeks after that.

If the 3D version hits in September, then they might release it in November, like they did with Monsters Inc. That would be a duel release with Brave.

No, they'll release a 2D version before that so people can double dip and give more money to the Mickey Mouse.

News on Disney websites/forums today. The following are getting 3D theatrical releases:
Quote:
The Little Mermaid (in 3D) 9/13/13
Monsters, Inc. (in 3D) 1/18/13
Finding Nemo (in 3D) 9/14/12
Beauty and the Beast (3D) 1/13/12
So I'm guessing Nemo will be getting a Blu-Ray release next fall. With Little Mermaid following in 2013.

Probably, which is why I'll wait for the 3D release, now that it's confirmed it will have one theatrically, which assures a 3D home video release soon after...

That is definitely a teaser for Finding Nemo on blu-ray, and we haven't seen this before so they just created it. It's my favorite PIXAR animation and they're really saving the best for last, just like I always do.

For all this waiting, they better have something special in store for the Finding Nemo blu-ray.

Standard version will be out in spring, just like they've done in 2009, 2010, and 2011. And it will be released with The Muppets.

The 3D double dip will be out Holiday 2012 after it is done with the theatrical run (like Lion King)

I was about to say the same thing. Nemo's getting a September theatrical rerelease in 3D, so assuming they continue the model used by Lion King, we'll see the BD shortly thereafter.
and no, I dont think we'll see a spring standard version..

also Little Mermaid September 2013

I think that's the more likely scenario now. I doubt we'll see separate 2D & 3D release dates for Nemo in the same year; IIRC the *only* film Disney did that on was Tim Burton's Alice.

BatB 3D came out a year after the 2D version. The theatrical release in early 2013 suggests at a minimum that BatB 3D isn't returning to the Vault till at least April 30, the new Vault date Disney introduced this year. (It's possible Disney could send BatB 2D to the Vault as early as January 31, the old Vault date, and keep BatB 3D around till 2013; but I doubt it.)

also Little Mermaid September 2013
TLM has been scheduled for 2013 ever since the Diamond line was announced back in 2009; since Peter Pan is the other 2013 Diamond, TLM was all but certain to be the fall 2013 release (always the first Tuesday in October). That hasn't changed; if anything, this only reinforces it.

The bigger news here is that Disney is even doing TLM in 3D. Unlike their other 3D upconverts, TLM's print was assembled the old-fashioned way, i.e., by lining up actual cels--under glass or in a multiplane camera (they had to rent one for TLM since Walt's old camera hadn't been used in decades and no longer worked)--and shooting each frame individually by hand. (Only the closing rainbow scene was done in CAPS.) Thus, either it will have to be upconverted to 3D from a 2D copy (please, no Clash of the Titans! ), or else all the original cels are still in storage and can be scanned into a modern 3D system (if they haven't been already) for a more proper upconversion.

Every DAC since (including BatB & TLK), and obviously every Pixar film, was assembled digitally; the original CGI rendering data and/or scanned cels are still in digital storage, barring improper backups. (That almost destroyed the original TS before they could make it 3D, but I'm sure both WDAS & Pixar do it better now--WDAS still keeps one CAPS machine solely to read their old backups.) They can all be converted to 3D simply by copying the original data files, then manipulating (or for CGI, re-rendering) the original elements for 3D.

If they can go this route with TLM by scanning the original cels, then potentially *any* DAC for which the original cels still exist in Disney's real vault--maybe even all the way back to Snow White, since Disney is known for saving almost everything--could be upconverted to 3D the same way. (If they still have the original cels of Steamboat Willie--less likely--they could even create a 3D Mickey for the WDAS logo that way, though the current 3D WDAS logo leaves him in 2D.) I certainly hope Disney knows better and at least doesn't try to convert Walt's work to 3D.

the problem is that animation Cels get sold after a production is finished example Disney Stores sold production cels from The Little Mermaid (their last film to use cels) at prices from $2,500 to $3,500, without the original backgrounds
so they would have to do a conversion from the original camera negative
