Reading material help - Blu-ray Forum

Hello
First of all, apologies if this is on the wrong part, couldn't find a suitable one.
I was looking to know if there is any specific reading material/book that would help me understand better the differences between codecs/video formats/and video exporting settings, because I am getting into video editing and I am completely lost when I have to change the codec's settings.
