Cool, thanks.

There's very very few films that genuinely scare me and TMP is one of them. Really gets under my skin.

Not sure what we'll get with the Blu-ray but I'm certainly interested!

Sony needs to get off their butts and release it on Blu-ray.

Already took the chance and pre-ordered it due to both Concorde having a good reputation and the fact that the 18 mbps MPEG-2 HDNet Movies version already looked fantastic.

Please don't take this personally but I hated this movie. Incredibly boring. I have never walked out on a movie in my life but I came really close to walking out on this movie.

Each to their own though

I've walked out of dozens! I used to go to the cinema 3 or 4 times a week when I lived in London and Edinburgh and I just refused to sit there and be annoyed/bored/treated like a ****ing idiot etc etc. I hardly go now to the cinema but my 'walking out' is more vicious than it's ever been with home cinema. I'll give most films 15mins and they're off. In fact I've been so disgusted I've even walked out of my own house on occasion

Not sure about the audience for TMP because I'm not really a fan of horrors or horror/thrillers and to be honest I'd given up on Gere and never previously liked Laura Linney -but it all changed with this film. I was so bowled over by her I even watched P.S. which I also loved.

Best thing with movie watching is see as many as you can. You'll find gems where you'd never thought of looking. Saying that, I'd avoid the sort of follow-up film I see mentioned in this forum. I like to think I'm discerning or maybe it just looks utter shit.

I have the US (2 disc SE) and UK DVDs and will be keeping them too as the special features are good reference and may disappear.

This is one of those movies that you don't hear much about but it's an excellent movie. I happened to find it on DVD for 5 bucks. That'll have to do for now.

Unhappy Beware The German Region B DVD!!

Hi there fellow TMP fans!,

Just like many of you on here I was really pleased to discover that this wonderfully creepy, under-rated movie was being released in Germany by Concorde and I received my long-awaited copy yesterday (5/12). BUT BEWARE everyone...

Although the film looks and sounds great in BD HD, if you choose the original English language soundtrack, you CAN'T turn off the German subtitles.

That's why I'm sending mine back to amazon.de for a refund and I'm going to wait for the UK region B or a U.S. Region-Free release.

So, does anyone out there have any news of an upcoming U.S. or UK release date for TMP?...

Hi, thanks for the info Can we have a scan of the cover please?

That is unfortunate. Forced subtitles are not a problem with me as I can plug my laptop/PC into my TV and use something like AnyDVD to remove the prohibition. Simple and works everytime. I think a lot of Phillips and Oppo machines permit the user to virtually remove subtitles from the frame too.

And if that's not good enough I'll just make my own Blu-ray with no subtitles (If I invest in my property there's no harm in me enjoying it without subtitles).

I've removed subtitles from my The Man Who Wasn't There, Pirates (Polanski), Bagdad Cafe and a few others. It's not barrier if it means I get a great film and transfer.

€10,00 and I'm in

just bought this for 10€. Love this movie.
The only downside is the forced subtitles. But the PQ is really good i would say overall a 4 out of 5. and the AQ is DTS HD Master 5.1 4.5-5. the bridge collaps sound and look stunning.

there is a featurette abot 15 min long, audio commentary by director, music video of a sucky band lol, and US trailer all extras is SD quality

I received it (cheap on Grooves INC.), but haven't been able to test it as my PC is down until my new motherboard and cpu come in. Hopefully AnyDVDHD works fine with the subtitle removal.

Got mine. Very nice transfer. From the 'untouched' school of HD encoding I think.

Disc is A and B and the film works perfectly on a US setup.

Subs always seem to be outside the approx 2.35:1 frame. Subs easily removed once I moved the 18GB file to a blank Blu-ray anyway. Pity really but no big deal (these data .m2ts files have always worked perfectly on my standalone Sony or I suppose you could just make a new BR) and I'll just use a 2 disc slim case.

Cover:

Pretty amazing upgrade compared to the now very dodgy looking DVD

Good to hear. I was debating importing this film, but wasn't sure if it would be a significant upgrade.

I also had imported this, and while I hate non-removable subs, in this case they weren't that bad since for the most part they are lower than the movie image. Also it's region free so that is a big plus for most if they don't have a region B player (I do). It's a great upgrade from the US DVD release.
