For what it's worth, I was very impressed by the transfer.

This is coming from a studio who tends to DNR their releases to death, and I can happily say that the grain is still intact with Scarface

I'm not a DNR expert by any means, but there is plenty of grain, no waxy faces or anything like that. If DNR was used, it was kept to an absolute minimum. I don't think anything mentioned in the review (EE, DNR, etc.) stands out to the extent that the reviewer describes.

IMO it should be at least 4 stars.

Yep, you heard wrong. Definitely no noticeable DNR. Only things slightly noticeable are some EE and a slight boost to the black levels.

It's not reference quality, but it is far better than both dvd versions—especially the first.

Well the best price used to be $21 with Future Shop online, but now I guess the best price is $28!

I did see it for $24.99 at HMV last weekend but passed. Not sure if it's in-store only or if that price has expired coz it's $36 on their website.

On another note, should I be in a rush to get this or is this another mass produced steelbook which will be around for a while?

I've been seeing the steelbook at Blockbuster for $29.99 - 25% = 22.49

Still waiting for it to go sub-$15 myself...

If you are willing to shell out a bit more than $15 it should go down to $17.99 ($29.99 - 40%) when the discount gets bumped up to the next level, assuming there is still a copy available.

It's being advertised as a Limited Edition... but then again, so were the 2006 Star Wars DVDs

supposedly the regular amray release of Scarface is scheduled for later this year (christmas season) by then production of all the steels should have stopped and their rarity should go up at that point.

Picked up Scarface just over a week ago and decided to take the wrapping off last night only to find a dent under the price tag.

Lets hope they give me no problems getting a replacement.

Check BBV. Maybe you will get lucky and find one for 50% off.

I know it was not the greatest but for comic book movie collectors this is a must. I noticed the US Bestbuy.com had this exclusive and checked Bestbuy.ca but no luck .. searched Futureshop.ca and found it

US Version from the GL Thread over in North American Forum:

Hopefully this is the same version FS will ship.
