So last night we had some friends over for dinner, and one of them was really keen on checking out my new PS3. We ended up playing co-op Resistance: FoM until about 3 AM and nearly beat the game, but I was ready to collapse from exhaustion. (Only 4 levels to go!)
Anyhow, one thing I observed is that the game was REALLY dark... nearly impossible to see in some scenes. I've never noticed a lighting problem in other games, like Heavenly Sword or Ninja Gaiden--they all seem to be appropriately balanced. Movies and TV look OK on my screen, too. Is there any way to jack up the gamma in this game? Or am I stuck with just cranking the brightness manually on my TV (Sony KDS-50A2020)? |

Some scenes are intentionally dark so just turn on your wapons flashlight.

Last night was the first time I'd played the game (other than a quick multiplayer bout with my wife)... I just assumed my flashlight ran out of power and I was in the dark (a la Doom 3). Apparently I need to go RTFM. Now it makes sense that there were rooms that were totally dark. My buddy and I just fumbled through them until we found the way out. Now I know better -- thanks! ![]() |

Yes Resistance goes for a "Realistic Flashlight System" in such a system flashlights dont run out of juice in 5 minutes like the standard set by half life in which many games have followed.
Im glad that there are some games that realize how stupid it is for a flash light to die in 5 min., seeing all that cool technology that was being developed im glad that some scientist figured out how to make a flash light battery that actually lasted. |

Resistance is an awesome game. It's even better with the flashlight ![]() I have the same TV as yours, and after reading your initial post I started to think of the settings I use to help you out. Resistance looks incredible on that set, and I couldn't figure out what was up. I guess the flashlight would help your brightness situation. ![]() |

I have my Sony setup according to David Katzmeier's recommendations, which greatly improved the stock settings, particularly for movies. Now that I know how to use the flashlight, Resistance looks much better! Quote:

When you played RFOM without flashlights, did you have the surround system on? Even with the flashlight, some of the underground sequences can get pretty scary.
