New This Week: 02/13/2007 Edition - Blu-ray Forum

It's a big BIG release week this week with a lot of titles coming out. From PQ to AQ, there are some real winners in here and probably even more than some sites are saying since many can't seem to discern a difference between how a film should look and how they think it should look. Post-processing my patootie! Give me the film as it's intended to look!

Maybe someone who has the Reign of Fire Japan (Region 2) HD-DVD disc can do a comparison between that and the upcoming Blu-ray version.

So it's a faceoff of the same title.

Reign of Fire, eventually. Usual Suspects sometime later, and then Departed I will rent becuase I havent seen it yet. From what I hear though, I'll be buying that eventually too.

Well I preordered The Departed, Broken Arrow, Ladder 49, Planet of the Apes, Phone Booth and Reign of Fire... and the place I preordered from didn't get ANY copies of ANY of the movies in... looks like I'll be hunting them down on Tuesday

dont you buy movies you havent seen? im getting the departed, planet of the apes and reign of fire. i didnt like ladder 49.

Chronos for me this week. I only bought this one on principal, because of all the crap those morons over at AVS were spewing over this title. I almost purchased The Departed, but Warner releases have always disappointed me on picture quality, the last one being Goodfellas, so I'm going to wait for some reviews from people around here. As long as they insist on using low bit-rate VC-1 encodings and giving us BD releases crippled because of HD DVD or THD or whatever, I'm adopting an avoid Warner unless absolutely necessary policy.

From the new releases it is just "Chronos" for me this week. It will ship together with "The Terminator".

I agree to that 100%! It is beyond me why they didn't add uncompressed sound to their "Phantom of the Opera" BD release! I am also on an avoid Warner unless absolutely necessary policy and the treshold of absolutely necessary will rise significantly for their THD discs...

went to frys today to take advatage of the buy on get one free special. i also picked up reign of fire. i guess i got it early..i didnt know the release date was this tuesday.
