Forced subtitles again even though release is region locked!! This is insane! German release streets December 1. The French cost me tons of money!

For those who want to watch this marvellous show in the original English language version WITHOUT annoying subtitles the German release has, of course, no forced subtitles.

I was so confused over this. I watched it all on Netflix and decided I wanted to own it for myself. And I searched for it and came up with the Borgias and I was like... WTF? Thats not the same cast as I saw

Then I realised there are 2 series

Never seen the shotime seres but I've seen the trailers and it dosen't look anywhere near as good as this!

But man, It's prety expensive

Needs a UK release!

I'm looking to import this show but I need some help deciding on which version to get. The French cover art is the prettiest, but I don't like the idea of forced French subs. Amazon.fr also lists the runtime as 624 minutes. The German and UK releases say 693 minutes. Is the French version actually edited down?

Although I still have it I never wached the French release on account of the forced subtitles. I kept it as it has the best cover artwork.

The German release features a so-called "Director's Cut" as the TV broadcast in Germany (ZDF) was cut by 58 minutes (sex scenes and scenes considered too violent). The Blu-ray, however, is uncut rated FSK-18.

I don't know anything about the UK release, if the broadcast there was cut or not and how the situation is with the Blu-ray. Since the same runtime is indicated as on the German Blu-ray it is probably not unreasonable to assume it is the same uncut version.

I am very satisfied with the German release as it doesn't have forced subtitles and picture and audio are very good for this type of material.

Where did you purchase it from? I've tried Amazon.de and Amazon.co.uk and both sites say they can't ship it to my address in the US. I never had that issue in the past so are they doing this now because there are a lot of region free Blu-ray players?

Edit: Disregard. Found the answer in another thread. Apparently, I was trying to order from a 3rd party seller and they don't ship to the US.
