Finally, this movie is getting a release from Olive films. This is an absolute masterpiece.

Yeah, it is being released on video, but that may mean just DVD.

A quick google of the UPC says it's a DVD.

It's both good and bad - I wish it were on Blu, but anything stateside is a blessing.

Yeah I did not notice that, I was just so excited about the news. Well I guess the wait continues. A mod can delete this thread then since it is DVD news

What are your opinions on this film? I hadn't heard of it before today

I wrote that column at Twitch. The release is DVD only. The Japanese rights holders aren't letting go of the HD rights for the film. I know there is a Taiwanese Blu, but it is a terrible upscale. The UK company Third Window wanted to release a Blu, but they weren't granted the rights for it.
