Just saw the trailer for this - did not realize this was in the works much less opening this month. Don't know much about it except I'm a sucker for costume dramas .

It's the official Roland Emmerich Finally Goes Loopy movie--
We thought he was just kidding about believing every eco-disaster theory he ever filmed, but turns out he was sucker for the "Shakespeare didn't write Shakespeare" theories, either.

...There's always that one point where a director sets out to do a personal pet project, goes rogue and scares the children.

(Oh, and FTR, Shakespere DID write Shakespeare. Have to remember, he was an Elizabethan Catholic, and they knew about intrigue.)

Shakespere's religion is unknown, there is suggestion that he may have been Roman Catholic but this is unproven.

I'm very interested in seeing this...

However, I must also state that I am very excited about watching an EXTREMELY UNDENIABLE HARDCORE WORK OF PURE AND UTTER FICTION instead of some historically accurate portrayal of events (which, sadly, it seems to be trying to pass itself off as).

I agree on the watching fiction standpoint. I just enjoy period pieces / costume dramas or whatever you want to call them. The sets in the trailer look pretty good.

Will's dad John Shakespeare was said to be Catholic, and had to leave his job on the town council very quickly for undisclosed reasons before moving to Stratford.
(It was only after that he took up the "poor glovemaker" business that all the disproving-nuts harp on.)

When seeking approval from reigning monarchs both Protestant it probably would'nt be wise too shout your Catholicism too loudly

Me too. Looks really good and surprised to learn it's a Roland Emmerich film. Will definitely check it out!
