No one has one yet. The 2500 is due in ~2 weeks and, by report, the 3800 has been delayed until March: http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/01/21...d-until-march/

I'll call around. I'm actually lookin for the 3800. I've gots to until i can replace my processor with something that will do HDMI and pre that'll better handle 5 channels I'm fronting my amps with a Pioneer 84TXsi for the time being which won't do trueHD or DTS HD.

Is there any issue with the Panny other than the fact that the LFE is -10db, as it should be? Does your receiver properly apply the 10db boost to the LFE?

I had it disable on mine since the PS3 did the boost by itself, and turn it on with my BD30, never saw a difference in level.. |

Don't know if the 91 series does appropriately add the LFE boost, but the 84xx series does, whereas the 74xx series did not. |

I am not getting as much time today as I had hoped.
The load time from closing ka-thunk to disc playing on POTC 3 AWE was roughly 35 seconds. I was not very impressed but it was faster than the Pio 95FD. The load time was roughly the same on Ratatoullie, and Cast Away. The menu system is a bit generic IMO. and the HDMI setting choices were not easy to understand compared to the Sammy player, Sony player, and Pio player that I have used. There is no "bitstream" option that would be the simplest way to set the player. The choices seem a bit more annoying and arent completely obvious with their end result. The internal setting for output resolution is easy. Upon choosing DTS HDMA on Cast Away and playing the movie, the 5308 was NOT showing that it was receiving DTS HDMA. I think the person who "set up" the 5308 didn't set the inputs correctly, so I will try to get back and try SD DVD and set the 5308 correctly today. Sorry for the short info, I hope to have more info today, but may not get any time until tomorrow to "dig in" and make sure the system was set correctly. The PQ was great (as great as it could be anyway on the TV) on a 1080p Mits 46" medallion LCD. (I wasnt there to choose the set. ) Hopefully I can move it to a Pio Elite plasma tomorrow. |
