Default Do you prefer concerts or videos on Blu-ray?

I would have to go with videos on this one. As cool as some concerts can be, imo it doesn't get any better than the best video hits, remastered for the highest video and audio quality. Unfortunately most music releases are concerts, which is why I only have a few music DVDs in my collection (which I would gladly upgrade to Blu ray, if available).
What's your preference?

I like them both. I'd buy many more music releases if the artists could release music video collections, especially bands/performers from the 1980's. In fact, why these remnants of record companies don't band together and start releasing volumes of various artists in their stable is beyond me, unless it's contractual. But if it's a contractual issue, why doesn't the person/persons who do own the rights release them? Maybe a possibility of poor sales figures on some sets scare them....I dunno.

I love both...in theory I guess. There aren't any bands I love with Blu-ray video collections, which sucks. Most of the bands I love are 90's or 80's so I don't know how their videos were shot. I'd love to see the Smashing Pumpkins videos as HD as possible.

I don't have Lugosi in my name but...

I prefer concerts. Sure, I grew up in the heyday of MTV, but a lot of that stuff doesn't have the same appeal to me it used to. I'm referring to 80s material here, but I should think getting HD versions of videos that were originally edited on SD video would be problematic.

I love live music and many of my favourite bands are far better in concert than they are in the studio owed partly to excessive dynamic range compression.

However my #1 choice would be...studio albums remastered from analog tapes into high resolution 5.1 and stereo, 24/192 where possible, otherwise 24/96.

I would love to see Zeppelin's catalogue for example reissued in deluxe Blu-ray audio discs.

I prefer concerts BD's....it's the next best thing to having been there. I wouldn't mind seeing a compilation disc of Peter Gabriel videos, but there doesn't appear to be a market for it (yet).

I totally skipped the video era, it never appealed to me, but I love to watch a good concert on blu, don't have many because one of my friends has lots so we share. A concert like Dave Matthews and Tim Renoylds is one major enjoyable way to spend the evening, almost as good as if you were there. It's my go to concert for friends. It's all about being live for me.

Do you have the DVD of it? All the videos remixed by PG and Daniel Lanois presented in dts2496.

I should bring it on Saturday, the LFE gets a real nice workout thanks to Mr. Tony Levin. Some of the songs are new interpretations as well, like Washing of the Water.

I definitely love concerts in Blu.

I was never into music videos, even during the VHS and DvD eras.

BOTH of the Megadeth Blus are completey sick.

I prefer live shows to conceptual videos. That said I'm really enjoying the Rush: Moving Pictures BR Audio Disk (which also contains some videos). I look forward to more BR Audio in the future. Farewell to Kings with Zanadu in 5.1 DTS-MA would be sweet. This is going to be fun as the format continues to grow.

Ditto, for me, it'll Always be "LIVE" Concert blu-rays. Videos are ok, but you can always watch VH1 or VH1 Classic in your Home Theater with the AVR set to PLiiX & it'll sound pretty damn good, no?

Hearing one of your fav bands from a "LIVE" Show or Tour, with multiple HD Cameras, pristine Audio, blows Video away (IMO)

I'm surprised we haven't had more ZEPPELIN either in the form of "LIVE" Shows (O2 Arena, anyone?!), or even with Blu-ray Audio discs.

I would have to say concert on bluray without a doubt. I have about at least 5 or so and 3 more coming this year. Dream Theater is being shipped out, Rush in Nov, and Styx in Dec. Once I get my HT gear (AV receiver with HDMI 5.1 or 7.1 DTS-HD MA) I will be all set.

to compliment him on a truly Spectacular & Amazing job he did, especially for the 2nd half of the show when they played the Entire "MOVING PICTURES" record. He was Very Gracious to us. --- I can't WAIT to see this in Superb HD Video & hear the Audio as well.

Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland concert video to release Nov 8th. Best Buy exclusive blu-ray release on Nov 8, others Dec 20.

Rush Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland Blu-ray Best Buy exclusive offer?
Posted at 2:30PM | comments (28) |

Best Buy exclusive Rush Time Machine offer: Since late August the listed release date for Rush's upcoming Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland concert video has been given as November 8th. However, about a month ago some retailers including Amazon and Barnes & Noble began listing the release date for just the blu-ray version as December 20th - 6 weeks later than November 8th. But both Best Buy and the Rush Backstage Club kept their blu-ray release date listed as November 8th, causing a lot of confusion among fans pre-ordering the blu-ray. Although there has been no official announcement yet, I've learned that this is due to the fact that the blu-ray version will only be available at Best Buy stores in the US for the first 6 weeks of release. Best Buy will also be including an XL RASH t-shirt with any purchase of the blu-ray.

Rush has been my favorite live band since I saw them the first time in 1978. Yep I'm old but still like to crank it up on a regular basis.

I haven't seen a music video in years. Can't remember when MTV last showed music videos?

I'd have to say, I like concerts more than videos. The feeling of being there.

We need Pink Floyd: Pulse on BD, has a little from both worlds.
