Default Cannot burn 50GB BD-R HELP!

Hope some here can answer this since I am completely clueless.

The problem is this. I have been using a Sony "Model: BD RW BWU-500S" in the first months it did work perfectly no problem burning both 25gb & 50Gb discs.

No I can only burn 25gb discs. If I try to burn 50gb I get a error.

I have now done a complete reinstall on my pc but the same thing happens.

I need help!.

BTW: I have also done a firmware update to 1.63 but that did not solve anyhting.

When I click burn it starts up and it takes 25-35 sec and then I get the error message. Works fine on 25gb.

I am trying to make a data disk. I have tried both nero, xpburner.

1)what program are you using to burn? Have you ever used ImgBurn?
2)what's the total size of the item(s) you are trying to burn? Is it an ISO file or are you adding multiple data files to the disc to burn?
3)what error are you getting?

This is the error code I am getting:

23:12:13 Preparing to burn disc at 4x (17*980 KB/s)
23:12:13 Burn process started at 4x (17*980 KB/s)
23:12:39 (devCDControlError) Could not write to Disc (LBA: 2816 Length: 32). CD Control Error. - 0x037300
23:13:03 Burn process started at 4x (17*980 KB/s)

Before I did burn a 25gb disc with no problem.

There is more then one files I am trying to burn to disc but the amount of files has nothing to do with this problem.

I am trying to find out if others have the same problem.

Ok... there's still a few questions for you.
1)What program is giving you this error? Is the messages you posted from Nero? Have you tried using ImgBurn? I can type you a nice little tutorial on how to do a 'data disc' using ImgBurn if you like.
2)Maybe you already answered this, but have you EVER been able to burn a 50gb disc? if so, was it the same brand you are currently using? What brand are you using?
3)Have you tried updating the firmware on you blu-ray burner? What model burner do you have?

1. Xpburner is the pram that gives me this error. On nero I only get "unknown error"

2. Yes I have burned a 50gb disc before that is what is strange since the error did start to come up some time ago. The brand I am using for the 50gb discs is Verbatim but I have also tried Sony 50gb disc the same error here.

So to me it looks like the problem is NOT the discs.

3. I did update the firmware on the blu-ray burner to the latest 1.63. The burner is: "Sony BD RW BWU-500S".

Hmmmm... short of it being a physical problem with the burner, I'd try the following:

1)Download ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) and install it. If you are burning an .iso file, you could simply right click on the ISO file and choose to open it with ImgBurn. If you are burning a data disc with a bunch of files, then launch ImgBurn and choose to "Build" a disc. You'll then add all of the files you want to burn to your compilation, then choose the blu-ray burner as your destination and choose to burn it! If you are trying to burn a dual-layer movie then PM me and I'll assist (I don't think its appropriate to discuss that in our forums).
2)If burning with ImgBurn, I'd recommend doing the following: a)set the burn speed to 2x (even if your burner and blank support higher speeds, choose 2x!) I don't normally "verify" mine, but initially I would recommend you doing this to verify that the disc burned properly and is readable.

If ImgBurn fails to burn the disc I believe there is a 'log' that's generated. Maybe that will tell us more as to what the problem is you are having! Feel free to email me directly and I'll see if I can assist further.

I'm guessing if you are unsuccessful then you may very well have an issue with the burner.

What OS are you running? Windows 7? 32 or 64bit?

Yeah... I was starting to lean towards it being the case. Sounded like a physical hardware issue.

I've been a longtime Nero user and still use it quite a bit when burning 'data discs', but when I'm burning dvd and/or blu-ray movies I always use ImgBurn. Its a very reliable app. I highly recommend it.

Let us know how things work out for you and if you need any assistance let me know.

Rick
