Question Question on picking where you left off

So I was watching hitman unrated and I ejected the disc and took my PS3 to another location and was playing a game and all.. Anyways a few days later I put the disc back in (I thought I had completed the movie) However to my surprise the disc continued where it left off.

I thought this was only a feature for BD live discs?

Actually, BD Live discs are the ones that DON'T resume to your spot unless they're specially authored for it (and most aren't).

Use the pause button instead of stop if you are coming back to the movie within a few minutes.

Almost all of Fox's Blu-rays resume for me after removed and re-inserted, usually they go to the menu. They ask if you want to resume where you left off and if you say yes it takes you to the menu or where you were in the movie, if no, then you see the usual load of previews and such.

It's absolutely ridiculous that the resume feature is on a case by case basis. The tecnology existed on DVD, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to include it with Blu. The Blus that do have the feature are better than DVD in that I can take the disc out and put it back in and resume. Wish all discs had this.

Sure, ideally I would watch a movie all the way through; but with a two year old, that is isn't always an option. The option becomes watch in parts, or not at all.

I agree it's ridiculous that a feature that was common on DVD is now fairly rare for BD's. Talk about backward progress...

It's annoying to have to sit through all the opening junk on a blu again, not to mention search for the place you left off. Maybe someone out there with more technical knowledge can explain to me why blu's don't all pick up where they left off like DVD's?

The whole reason why resume does not work with BDs was because the BDA decided back during BD's inception that Java was the platform they were going to use. That was the biggest mistake that was ever made with BD, that and BD-Live.

My question is.. how can you think you finished a movie? You didn't notice there was no climax or end credits?

Some days I may pop in a movie to watch a scene, or one part or so because I won't be in the mood to watch the whole thing. Then weeks or months later if the family wants to sit and watch for movie night, it'll start up right in the middle or wheverever and it's like...d'oh...hold on a second.

I had a DVD that actually did this... i was kinda freaked when it happened... I think it was the Ultimate Edition (metal slipcover) of Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
