Onkyo M-282 - Blu-ray Forum

Is the Onkyo M282 any good?

Wondering about how well this amplifier performs for the money? Does anyone own them?

If so how do you like them? Do they run hot or have a hum??

this is basically like the amp found in the Onkyo 606, its not even rated for 4 ohm performance, personally, Id suggest that you pass on this amp.

Personally, Id suggest that you look at the Emotiva UPA-2, which is on clearance for $299.

I'm EMO blue to the bone with my HT system, but with my 2.0 system I have three M-282's and love them -- they do make some heat as you would expect, but nothing crazy, so I added some fans as added insurance

Oh - zero hum too........

I know this is an old thread. I love this amp for the money it is actually closer to the tx-nr706. It is almost identical to the new tx-nr737 same size filter caps and power supply. This amp will walk all over the new Onkyo m-5010. The Integra ADM-2.1 is the sister amp to the M-282. These can be found for $100.00 all day. With Atmos here I'm sure these smaller affordable amps will gain value for height channel power.

I've heard several Onkyo amps but unfortunately the stars never aligned and I never got to hear the 282 anywhere other than a circuit city showroom which is pretty much useless. I agree with callas with regards to the specs themselves which aren't that impressive however I disagree with the Emotiva suggestion, pile of junk.

Stalker seems to be enjoying them in his stereo rig so that says something. For what its worth they look great in his stack. If possible i think its one of those deals where if you can hear one in your own system that will be the true test. Not having enough first hand experience I'd have to hear it in a decent environment before making the buy.
