The French branch of 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has revealed that it will release on Blu-ray Hugh Hudson's Chariots of Fire (1981), starring Nicholas Farrell, Nigel Havers, Ian Charleson, Ben Cross, and Ian Holm. In 1981, the film won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the Cannes Film Festival. A year later, it also won four Oscar Awards, including Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen (Colin Welland) and Best Music, Original Score (Vangelis). Technical specs and region coding status for this release are unknown at the moment. Street date is October 5th.

Oct 5 has come and gone. Anyone know the status?

Nothing that I could find on Fox's French website, at least nothing pertaining to a present or future BD release. Have you checked the French forum here? Either way it doesn't look promising, maybe next year.
