Hi,
I was wondering what Satellite/Cable provider out there is the best for selection and quality of HD. I was planning on going with Bell, but I have heard weary things about them. I wish I could get DirecTV but oh well. Anyway any feedback from anyone with the providers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Pred... |

I have Starchoice and find that the HD channels are good enough to watch sports and movies but picture quality doesn't come close to Blu-ray. There are a total of 26 HD channels on Starchoice, 1 payper view, 3 French, and 2 movie channels. The HD networks carry so few programs that are in HD so I hardly watch anything besides sports & movies.
Note: Starchoice HD receivers doesn't have HDMI outputs, you can use DVI to HDMI or component. |

I beleive in Calgary its Shaw. Pretty much the same, I think they divide territories between each other. I dont think it has as much HD channels as bell.

I have Starchoice. A month ago, I saw the two, Bell being the other, side by side. Bell was overcompressed and many of the HD channels appeared to be washed out. I also noticed a jittery, blurring effect, while Hockey Night In Canada was playing, when looking at the Bell. Starchoice was steady and showed no effects of over-compression while watching sports. Starchoice also simsubs less, if you prefer the U.S, feeds over the Canadian feeds. Bell currently has more channels, but most of Starchoice's HD channels are provided at no charge. Bell charges for their package.
