Australia The (1) Blu-ray every collector MUST HAVE

Hi all

My first thread

I'm rather new here and have recently started collecting Blu-rays. About 5 weeks ago I had 55, I am now about to hit 200 and have many on order through Amazon.

My question is, what is the 1 blu every collector must have.
It could be the best movie, best picture quality, best audio quality, best overall transfer, best collection/anthology, best collectors item or it could be all of the above.
I'm hoping I get a few replies with movies I would have never considered

According to this site, The Dark Knight is the #1 title people have in their collections.

I wouldnt say this movie is essential but it gives you great respect for older movies and the pq is really good, however, Space Odyssey 2001 is definitely up there

Well in terms of a restoration job, I would pick The African Queen.
Not only a great movie , but great video quality as well.

Love this choice. It LOOKS amazing.
Blu-ray does it justice.

Also I just got the Alien Anthology, so I'm looking forward to watching it. Heard great things.

I got the alien anthology (the awesome alien egg set! which is amazing) and have so far watched the first 2 I was very impressed in the quality of alien. Gives the movie a new breath of life.

The alien anthology is my favorite set. Re-watching alien it looks fantastic, looks better than most current films. As far as I know the supplements were the same as the DVD release all the features on alien 3 are especially great. You can see all the problems they had from the inception of the project.

If I had to pick one blu that I couldn't live without it's probably my copy of North by Northwest. My favorite movie, my favorite score and my favorite actor. Purely subjective of course but that is my essential pick.

Australia The one blu-ray every collector must have

Depends on the quality of the equipment that you have to show off the best that blu-ray can offer. but i'm going to be different to the norm as everyone will tell you (and rightly so as they are fantastic titles!) to get titles like Avatar, Tron: Legacy, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Transformers etc, etc.... but I'll suggest forgotten & hidden gems like Gattaca, The Thin Red Line, The Prestige, Serenity. There, I've given you a start, I hope this helps you, I know you only asked for one but there are so many waiting to be discovered which is part of the fun! Cheers Mattyo

Choosing from my own collection, I would say that the ALIEN ANTHOLOGY is a must own Blu-ray set.
