How often are yall using your PS3. How is the durability compared to a ps2? I use mine everyday for like 3 hours, and its does get pretty warm. Mine is almost out of warranty and was wondering is there a such thing as preventative maintenance for a ps3..

I take it and blow it out with a can of compressed air, very gently every month.

Keep it well ventilated. Heat is the biggest killer of electronics. I have heard about bluray drives dieing on the PS3. Not sure how often it happens on the Slim. You may want to get another player for watching movies and just use the PS3 for games if you are really worried. My slim is still working good, but I don't use it every day. Lucky if I use it once a week on average.

I have thought about getting a stand alone. But, I hardly game on the ps3. I only have killzone 3 and Uncharted 2. I mainly use it for watching blus in bed and streaming netflix and renting movies from psn.
