Lots of stupid questions, so brace yourself.
Well, since my PS3 should be coming in a couple of days after my gamestop order, I wanted to buy my first Blu-Ray movie. Now The Departed seems like it's critically aclaimed and great. It seems like a good choice. I have a few q. 1)Does it really show the Blu-ray's capabilities like let's say Crank? Does it really look beautiful, perhaps more beautiful than most other Blu-rays? 2)Is the movie itself good, is it more action or more plot? 3)Is it a rental or a buy? I'm NOT a DVD collector(though I was a heavy VHS collector, mostly kid's movies though lol). I like to watch movies many times over as I did to blade, shrek and so forth. How good is it in terms of watching over and over again? Does it have that 'suck in' factor that makes you want to wath it many times over? I mean I wouldn't want to watch some sad ass drama more than once, on other hand I'd like to see fifth element more than once. 4) If you wathed the movie, Blu-Ray or not, what are some cons and pros? Don't spoil anything though. 5) WIll it play 720 on a 720 lcd or will it go down to 480(-__-)? 6)Please answer all the qs.lol Thanks, I'll be glad to join the Blu-Ray family. ![]() |

The Departed is an amazing movie. I saw it four times in theaters, plus I've watched the Hong Kong film it was adapted from, Infernal Affairs, twice. It sucks in because the characters are great, the acting is great, and the story is fast and intense. It's easily Martin's best movie since Goodfellas.

What does this have to do with "The Departed?" I was hoping for an early movie review from some of the fine folks who post to the Blu-ray forum. Sheesh.
Crank is simply a fantastic Blu-ray title (both picture and sound quality). I've already watched it several times. Play it on something 1080P and you will easily agree that this is an awesome treat. Without seeing Babel, The Departed is easily the best movie of 2006. I can't believe that Jack was not nominated for an Oscar. What a crime. I also can't wait to hear what people on this forum think about this awesome movie in Blu-ray. I should have my copy this Friday. |

Is this a test? I suck at those.
Actually, I have a more direct question which ties in (sort of) with Alexander's first question -- Does anyone know, because this is a Warner title, if picturewise was this is basically a "port" of the HD-DVD version, and therefore not up to BD's full capability? alexander, chill
cant answer the question right away to start. second, the title isn't technically out till tomorrow. so any user reviews will have to wait a day unless one of our reviewers can comment. |

1)Yes
2)The movie itself is good 3)BUY 4) Pro's-It's good Con's-Someone died 5) Blu-Ray's only play 1080 on the PS3 is what i've heard, i've got 1080p so i don't have to worry about it, i'm guessing you'll be watching 480p 6)I've never seen the movie before ![]() |

So, if you have a display that accepts 1080i (almost all do, especially if you have an LCD or LCD projection) you are fine. |

i haven't seen a review yet so I don't know how we would know about the pq. As for the movie, I think it was really really good if you like cop dramas...but there is a chance you could find it a tad depressing and not want to watch it again.
