Default 'Seconds' (1966) starring Rock Hudson

John Frankenheimer's 'Seconds' is one of my all-time favorite films from the '60's and one of my favorite Rock Hudson movies in general. Fantastic cinematography and acting highlight this great film. Salome Jens (Star Trek: DS9) also stars. I hope soon this movie is released on Blu-ray. I wish Criterion would acquire it and release it.

Anyone else love this film?

Hi Pat,

I really like this film too. It is very stylish (quite atmospheric) and well acted. Like you, I would love to see it on Blu-ray.

Do you have the DVD? It is not one of Paramount's better releases. If you watch the film on anything bigger than 50', the picture starts to fall apart.

Have you read the book?

love this movie, i'm definitely going to pick up the book at some point

but it would be a dream if criterion got the rights to this one, but you know that paramount isn't gonna let go of it...

Also one of my favorites. James Wong Howe's cinematography is magnificent.

That is very true...yesterday I watched 'Sweet Smell of Success', and his cinematography is just perfection.

Yes. It's in my top ten. A wonderful film. The ending of this film is far more horrific than any horror film I've ever seen.

Howe's cinematography is excellent as is Jerry Goldsmith's score.

I'd love for Criterion to scoop this film up on blu, but I'd love it if it got a good treatment from anywhere.

Hi....yes I do have the DVD. Haven't watched it in a while though. I emailed Criterion about maybe checking to see if they could get Paramount to license the film to them. A Blu-ray would be fantastic.

Could happen. Days of Heaven, Ace in the Hole, White Dog, and the von Sternberg silents are licensed from Paramount. DoH is on blu.

I loved the film. It was one of those films that makes you ask yourself "why do live anyway?" Really needs to be released on Blu-ray soon.

Check out the Criterion announcement for August 2013..... you got your wish. Strange that I didn't even read a rumor on this release.

Good news - a must buy . The opening Saul Bass credits sequence with the music is outstanding. I just think that Hudson is very wooden in this movie and the beach "orgy" scene is overplayed. Remember reading a few years ago that there could have been a remake with Edward Norton in the lead role - obviously never happened.
