This is the Tarzan thread but I'm posting the whole story here.

I've got confirmation about Disney's releases about this and next year!!!!. I asked the Disney representative in Greece about the imminent release of BatB: EC and she said that Disney does not plan to release it over here BUT that if I am interested in other Classic Disney movies on BD, the following are set to be released:

- The Lion King ( November 21th) [ we knew that ]

- Lady and the Tramp (February 2012)

- Pocahontas 1 & 2 (should be released until June 2012)

- Tarzan (should be released until June 2012)

But man I'm so pumped for the summer gonna buy that day one. I've been holding myself off from watching it in the hopes of a blu-ray announcement. The DVD copy I have also doesn't have the ".1" since it's only "5.0 surround". This with lossless should pack a heck of a punch in the sound mix!! Imagine Son of Man with that!

Can't wait. TLK and Tarzan are my top two traditional Dinsey animated films. Looking forward to Mulan and Aladdin as well.

I contacted the Disney representative in Greece again asking about their release schedule, if she could give me dates etc
Here goes

Lady and the Tramp - February 6
Tarzan - April 2
Pocahontas 1 & 2 - April 23
Fox and the Hound 1 & 2 - April 23

These releases are subject to change, but this is the official word as of now. Because I know some of you are skeptical about the info, I'll post the full response here. You can use google translate or whatever...

I'm guessing that Tarzan isn't a diamond edition? Either way I'm more than happy enough for a blu-ray release. Hope this isn't like a Dumbo release, where they get it earlier than North American shores.

I never thought of it until now, but is this somewhat of a marketing strategy of disney's? Heres why, after seeing as a fact that, the author of John Carter is the same author as Tarzan, could this somewhat be the reasoning why they decided to release this, this year? i think so in a way.

I had no idea! Yeah, that's very possible. Another person also said that a live action film about Tarzan is getting released around that time as well

Yeah, John Carter IS DEFINITELY the reason we'll get Tarzan on Blu-ray this year

This is great news!!! My daughter and I have watched the crap out of our DVD of Tarzan! She is constantly telling me that we need to get it on Blu! 5 years old, but a smart girl! She will be pumped!

BBC has classified extra's for tarzan, so it looks like UK is getting it, no confirmation on the US

^I'm pretty sure we'll be getting one, considering how they wouldn't want to sync the release high of John Carter to go to waste, though I'm pretty sure it won't happen when it comes out in theatres (March 9th). I'm hoping May/June at least. Nice catch there, disneyfreak!!

Haha nice, my DVD's also worn out. We've used it to copy down lyrics from songs before, considering the lack of internet we had then. Watched it a gazillion times on the phat Ps2 (which has a poor reader, resulting to scratches), on PC, laptop - I swear we killed it. I really can't wait to try this movie again with a full home theatre experience!

Haha nice, my DVD's also worn out. We've used it to copy down lyrics from songs before, considering the lack of internet we had then.
