Australia Cars 2 - Australian Version

Just bought Cars 2 today and I noticed on the cover it has a sticker that says Mark "Frosty" Winterbottom as the voice of Frosty. Now you can't tell me that Yanks, or for that matter the Poms know who the hell Frosty is. Is this one of those terrible "substitute for a local celebrity' cases like Shrek 2?

I'd say so, I don't even think Mark got his name in the credits when I saw it at the Cinema's.

I suppose it's nothing major, however it looks like they've plastered it on the Slip Cover.

Yep, that right. In some international versions the have a local racing identity voicing a character as per country.

Here's the list off wiki:

Mark Winterbottom as Frosty (Australian release)
Fernando Alonso as Fernando Alonso (Spanish release)
Vitaly Petrov as Vitaly Petrov (Russian release)
Jan Nilsson as Flash (Swedish release)
Memo Rojas (Latin American release)
Sebastian Vettel as Sebastian Schnell (German release)

Other films (cartoons) have done this before from what I remember.. its like you say, for the local crowd to have something to recognize.

Pixar did the same thing in past films! So nothing new with this release.

It happened in the first Cars also. Jeremy Piven was the voice of Harv (McQueen's agent) in the US, Jeremy Clarkson was Harv for the UK.
