i collect them for the amazing artwork and just uniqueness of most slipcovers. between lenticular, embossed, debossed, reflective etc etc....so many cool ones and really makes the movie pop out on the shelf. it is like collecting artwork or comics to me and i do it for the love of the slip not the investment hoping to get money back one day. personally i only collect slips of movies i own or plan to own and only movies i actually like. people are different though so how they collect is thier thing, i admire all the slip collectors i know because they are doing something they enjoy and how can you knock someone for that?!!!!

Also, because it's like having a First Edition when slipcases are only issued in the initial run. If one is available on a movie I want, then I'll try my best to get it - but it has to be that way round, just buying for the slipcase alone doesn't interest me.
Usually. |

It just, sort of...happened.
It wasn't an intentional decision to get slipcovers, like I did with my steelbook collection, but when some of my favorite catalogue title movies come with a slipcase by default, obviously than I am going to keep it. Same with new release titles. I'll never import slipcases. I'm not as oppsessed with them. But if a UK release that I want comes with one, then I'd keep it. I don't particularly care for slip cases unless they have great artwork or standout. Pulp Fiction and Super 8 come to mind as good ones, especially along the spine on the shelf.
I notice a lot of ya'll aren't peeling the stickers off of them. Is that a no-no? Is it weird to take them off and stick them in a closet or something? I'm thinking of my Harry Potter set, where I only have 2 with cases and don't like how they look all next to each other. |

Blame this place!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() What started me was that Transformers 2 Wal-Mart exlcusive where the slip and case were different and I just couldn't throw away the slip, because Bumblebee cover wasn't the actual cover. The rest is just 2 years of OCDness. |

Yeah I remember when I was buying my DVDs 10-15 years ago that they were very pricey compared to today's prices. Occasionally I will buy a DVD but mostly my collection is blu-ray.

Yes they are! I can't really explain my fascination with them, but I think they do add a certain amount of awesomeness to a Blu-Ray case. They add a little extra heft. I hate buying slipcovers that are damaged. I found a way to fix certain kinds of damage, mostly spots in the paint, using Sharpies. I will spend an inordinate amount of time in a store looking over copy after copy of a Blu just to find a slipcover with few faults. I also like the artwork insert of the Blu case itself to line up on the spine of the case perfectly in the middle. I guess I'm just a freak that way.
