Unfortunatly, Blue Planet was filmed on Video @ 720x576PAL 50i ... witch mean it have no value in HD....

Don't believe they'll ever be a package deal. I thihnk blue planet was filmed a long time ago too.

But it's only somewhere near $20 for blue planet.

Seas of Life hasn't been put out of Blu-Ray.

The standard version of that combo is available though, here. I'm assuming you know about that though..

Question Planet Earth (Blu-ray): 1080i or 1080p?

The review says that this collection is 1080p.

The box says 1080i. Which is correct? Does anyone know?

Both.

BBC is 1080P, Discovery Channel is 1080i.

BBC say it is 1080i.

So are they listing it wrong? :S

I remember hearing somewhere that it was a misprint. Should be 1080p.

Whatever it is, its utterly gorgeous. My TV describes it as 1080p when you plop a disc in. Its pretty smart with its resolutions.

Just found this comment on the Discovery web site:

"Planet Earth Blu-Ray Set not 1080p
: 4 out of 5 (4 out of 5)
DilbertZoolander October 18, 2008 (read all my reviews) (read all my reviews)
Quality: 4 out of 5 (4 out of 5)
Entertainment Value: 5 out of 5 (5 out of 5)
Educational Value: 5 out of 5 (5 out of 5)
Generally satisfied with the set, but one disappointment is that the DVD's are NOT 1080p resolution. It comes as 1080i. Not many can see the difference, but there is a difference. Only half the bit rate that is available is being used on these disks. Yes, the pictures are really great, but there is still some conversion issues (like judder) that 1080p would eliminate. A series so beautifully photographed deserves the highest quality transfer, not 2nd best. "

i'm pretty sure it's a misprint... my player says it's 1080p also...

this mistake has been made a few times now, they also printed 1080i on Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - but later corrected the mistake in later prints

as you said... it's a poster's comment, it's not an official distributor review. he probably read the specs printed as 1080i and was disappointed... however, i highly doubt he (or anyone) can tell the difference honestly anyway

Default Planet Earth...which one to buy?

I'm confused....can someone help? I keep thinking about dropping some cash for Planet Earth, but which is in 1080p? This was filmed with HD cameras, and somewhere a while back someone was talking about the difference between the BBC version and the Discovery channel version? but....when I looked at them both online they both said 1080i? is there a 3rd version?.....help?
