Default Gaming Computer/Laptop

I'm trying to find a laptop or pc that can handle gaming. It doesn't necessary have to be a Gaming Computer/laptop like the ones you see that are 1,500-4,000. Just a regular PC with a video card that can handle games like Battlefield 3. Please help

The only time I'd suggest a laptop if portability is a factor, otherwise a desktop is the way to go.

Sales will be coming in endless droves over the next few weeks (NewEgg has already begun theirs), so it will be hard to find the best 'deals'.

What is your price point? That's the first thing you have to figure out.

Anything by MSI is a sure winner

I've got one of the MSI gaming series, those things are amazing. They are a bit expensive but are quite literally portable desktops in terms of power.

Asus makes good stuff too, but not everything by MSI is automatically super fast, they make fast laptops and slow laptops just like everyone else.

Also no laptop is a match for a good desktop

edit: pretty solid deal at 1149 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834230214

Sager has some decent deals on the NP8150 right now, i priced out a nice machine for like $1650 with an i7 and an AMD 6990 mobile

Sorry, but Mac is a terrible option. There are many games still that are PC only. If you really want to be with efficient with your money and get the most bang for buck, build or get someone to build you a desktop. Battlefield 3 is a pretty intense graphic game and I'd hate for you to buy a machine and not be able to play it fully. First thing to discuss is your budget. What is the absolute highest you can pay right now?

And as they mentioned earlier, if you don't need portability, don't go laptop.

Agree... Laptops will always run you more $$$ for less performance due to the portability factor.

I'm guessing by the initial post its less then 1500. WHich even the base alienware desktop is 1499 so he should be more than able to build a nice desktop for under that... Laptop I have no idea.

You can build a very decent desktop for around $900. It would lack some nice amenities like a solid state and blu-ray drive, but those can always be upgraded later.

I'm a big Dell fan, though I haven't gotten anything from them in a few years. But I would check their website and see if they have any deals.
