No other info? 100s of things are "2012".

Anyway, great film (so much better than the remake POS) and a must own for me.

There's already the US disc of course: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-T.../24735/#Review

I thought the original was far better than the remake, but you have to watch it in the context of the time it was made and also take into consideration that it was a low-budget film. Everything in the original was a lot more subtle, especially the ending.

But IIRC, at least the original didn't get the subway geography wrong. The remake has an IRT train (narrower gauge) running on tracks to Coney Island, which is physically impossible and it made lots of other errors as well.

I just received this disc from Amazon UK today and it won't load at all, first time I've had a Blu-ray do that. It's looks fine with no scratches on the disc. However, there are 3 reviews on Amazon UK saying the same thing, it doesn't play at all.

Could anyone who has this, let me know if it plays on their machine please and if their copy was bought from Amazon UK? Maybe a bad batch sent to Amazon... Shame, I was looking forward to watching this in HD for the first time

My player's a Sony S370 btw. Thanks for any info on this anyway

Plays on my Panasonic bdt300. Takes a little moment after disc is inserted, the java loading circles appear. After a few rotations the 20th century fox logo appears and then goes into the film starting with a ua logo.

The US disk plays okay on my Sony 570. Think identical to UK as region free and multiple European subtitles. It is one of the MGM cheapies as loads straight into the film, and has no main menu. Setting accessed by pop up menu you can select whilst watching film.

Ah ok, what player do you have? Most likely a bad batch but I suppose possibly a firmware update might solve things even though the disc is literally barebones. Weird issue however...

Seems there's a lot of reports of this disc not playing on their machine, and it seems to be mostly Sony players. A few people have said it works on their PS3 but some have reported it didn't load. Another person said it wouldn't load on their PC Blu-ray drive either so it's potentially quite widespread. Hoping they miiiight do something to sort it, a disc recall would be great but it's probably very unlikely as I don't this film would justify the expense sadly.

Got mine from HMV and it works just fine on PS3 and my LG player.

It does go straight into the film though, no menu, trailers anything. Just plays the film from the get go. Whether this has anything to do with it, no reason to think it would but I know it's quite unusual.

I love this film. The remake was awful but this is excellent. One of those lovely little unasuming thrillers with an excellent cast, who all give brilliant performances.

No extras, other than a possible trailer (can't remember), but not going to complain for under a fiver!

Default Dodgy copy

I bought a copy of this and although it did load, the picture kept skipping and the sound cutting out, making it unwatchable. I tried it on three different players (a PS3 and two stand alone players, 1 LG and 1 Samsung) and the same thing happened. After a bit of searching, it seems a few other people have had similar issues. Possibly a bad batch? I bought mine from HMV btw.

From what I read when the UK version was released it will NOT play on Sony 3xx series players particularly the older 370 and prior.

Seems odd as I have the US Walmart exclusive which is region free and seems identical down to languages and subtitles which plays okay.

Hi all,
I ordered this a while back from and only recently discovered this disk error (I have a Sony player) so I can't return it as it's past the 28 day refund/replacement period.
Does anyone know if there's a studio contact I can ask for a replacement disk?

As I wanted this film so bad, I ordered and received another, newer copy from Amazon this week and it's still unreadable. I figured by now any issues would've been resolved but alas no. Now I have 2 defective copies but at least I can send the Amazon one back

There is unfortunately nothing you can do. The fault is your Sony player's firmware so MGM won't do anything. Given Sony only update the firmware on the PS3 and their latest model player you are stuck until you get another machine.

Is very odd as I have the US disk which plays fine in my Sony and Oppo. They obviously screwed up something on the UK disk but MGM won't do anything as only affects Sony machines.

I still need to pick up the US version of this due to the UK version not working on my player. Just to double check though, can anyone confirm that the US disc plays on a Sony s370 please? The UK disc doesn't and I don't want to import it then find out it doesn't work either. Thanks
