![]() ![]() Looks like a Police Academy cover. Very childish Strange movie this. Always thought it was very dated and like something from the 1950s. Some special features: ![]() No sign of "From the director of Superman IV: The Quest For Peace". SO now Columbia is whoring out it's product to Hens Tooth as well as Twilight Time? Whatever it takes to get some of the lesser films to arrive on Blu Ray I guess, so long as they are not too spendy (like Twilight Time) or hard to find for the collector's.

![]() ![]() http://www.henstoothvideo.com/bluray.html Sometimes Sony don't know what they own -they couldn't find their arse in the dark. I'm not even sure Sony (Columbia) even control this film TBH. At least it's getting a wide release though. |

I disagree with the “Kubrick ripped off the film” approach. There are so many dramatic situations (36) and methods to develop a plot. The plot is so basic that any number of films could be made using the same basic plot and still have different outcomes. If one were to tell a story of raw recruits going through basic, it would be a natural development to follow them in country. Even if Kubrick was inspired by the film, his film goes in for a very different approach.

I saw this movies when it was released back in 1978 with a group of friends at a local theater. We enjoyed it at that time.
I bought the movie in May 2019 from Amazon. Gathered that very same group of guys to rewatch the Blu-ray I purchased. We had the very same feeling about the movie as we did some 40+ years earlier. Underrated and watching our favorite military actor R. Lee Ermey, early on in his acting career. May you Rest in Peace Gunney and thank you for your service. |
