United Kingdom Blade Runner U.S - 5 Disc Edition play on UK players?

This topic may have been discussed before, (sorry if it has) but I'm curious if the U.S 5 Disc Edition of Blade Runner works on UK players. I've read some forums that it plays on a PS3 okay, however I don't have one of those. My Blu-Ray player is the Sony BDP-360. If it does play on UK players then I think the U.S edition would be the better buy because it has all five versions of the movie.

It's Warner's so most of their stuff should play. The problem will be if the DVD's are region locked or not (I think 2 discs are DVD's the other BD's (I'll double-check that for you). I think I read somewhere that they're region free but can't confirm it. I was after the Watchmen UC DVD set for the same reason.

I haven't missed a great deal on the Blade Runner set have I?

According to this site it's region free, so it'll play on any uk player.

I own this too, the Blu-rays are region-free and the DVDs are open to regions 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Glad the other guys confirmed the region free status of the DVD's.

If they're similar to the DVD's the picture is superb quality on The Final Cut, slightly less (if unnoticeable on the disc with three cuts on it), the Workprint comes off the worse due to the source material (I think Sir Ridley says as much in the introduction).

My only gripe with the BD's are Dangerous Days wasn't in HD. And we still haven't seen a release in the UK!

Thumbs up

The US release is the version to get. I don't really have to add anything to this thread, as many have already answered your questions, but its definitely worth importing. My only gripe with the set, is they could have ported the SD extras onto one BD instead of supplying two DVD's. The extra goodies themselves, are a great watch! Really interesting.

hope this helps .

The Spinner in the new CE is the grey prototype, there is a large lenticular card with the set as well but no perspex film-motion clip.

Discs are not identical. Only the Final Cut disc is. The other ones have much less dubs and subs. As a French, believe me, it make a huge difference.

The Ridley Scott letter is also in spanish.

Yep the Ridley Scott letter is in Spanish (that doesnt matter at all to be honest) and you could be right about the dubs/subs which I ignored. Apart from that its identical. Final Cut defaults to TrueHD 5.1 track too which the US disc didnt.
