Default DSF767's DIY AV Center and Living Room Build

Hey Guys,

Long time lurker on this forum but thought I would share my current HT build project.

I have been working on my living room for the better part of 2 months and it is now almost done. I just finished my DIY entertainment center yesterday and hope to set it up later tonight!

It's not anything super high end like some of you have because I don't have the money for that esp with all the Reno projects other then the HT going on.

However for someone in his 20's doing 100% of the work myself I am very proud of what I have done so far.

Gear:
  • Reciever - Harman Kardon AVR 1600
  • Center Speaker - Premier Acoustic PA-6C
  • Front Speakers - Premier Acoustic PA-6B's
  • Rear Speakers - Energy EAS-6C's
  • Subwoofer - BIC America F12
  • Power - Monster Power HDP 2400
  • Telvision - LG 60PV250 1080p Plasma
  • Video Game - Xbox 360 w/Kinect And PlayStation 3

Living Room Reno Checkoff
  • POTS lights in ceiling - Done
  • In Ceiling Speaker Install - Done
  • Bamboo Wood Floors - Done
  • Closet Conversion Into Built-In Into Entertainment Center - Done
  • TV and AV Hookup and Test - 0%
  • TV and AV Calbration - 0%
  • First Movie Watch - 0%

Here is the Living Room Setup coming along most of this work has been done over the last month with a Finish ETA of next weekend.

Rear Ceiling Speakers Installed:

DIY Entertainment Center Being Built:

Some Of My Gear:

Closet Conversion Progress:

Shot From Back Of The Room (You can see POTS lights and the floors which have been done and yes the ceiling needs to be painted from that work)

Work that I did yesterday finishing up the Closet Conversion.

Like I said I plan to set everything up tonight. Once I do that I will post pics with everything in place!

Looking good! Very nice built-in cabinetry work.

Yet another great craftsman. Not sure I would like that white but overall and in that setting it is looking really nice.

Cant wait to see it completed.

Thanks, I am not even the biggest white fan myself. The reason I choose while was because it is a built in so I wanted it to match the trim and molding in the room.

It is 90% complete I have all my components hooked up now. My new plasma got shipped to me with a cracked screen so waiting on a replacement which will be here next Wednesday.

I think it turned out great, you should be really pleased! Any thoughts of some LED lighting inbehind the tv? I bet it would light it up really nice.

Hey, I have always wondered why people put LED lights behind TVs. Does it enhance the video somehow? Or is it purely aesthetics? Just curious.

it really turned out very, very nice. love the built in thing! one question, how does the sub sound in that compartment rather than sitting out and not enclosed? does it take away or add nicely to it?

hard work, great job, go ahead, pat yourself on the back!

It sounds nice.

I know most people don't like putting subs inside something but I think because I built out of really plywood vs MDF if does not negativity effect it because plywood is thicker and more sturdy.

It is a front firing rear ported sub and the compartment also has tons of space around it (I built it very deep on purpose thinking of this.) so I think with it being sturdy and having rooms to breath its sounds quite good.

I believe the majority do it for aesthetics but I think I've read somewhere that if you watch tv in an entirely dark room that the light can be helpful for eye fatigue or something like that... I don't exactly recall or I'm entirely making it up
