On paper, i'd choose Walking Dead because I love zombies. I love em as much as the next person, but I'll be the first to say... "I like 'em in small doses: a two hour movie... a thirty minute zombie scene here... a flesh-eating scene there....etc" Not for a season, let alone two and three.

We all loved Newman on Seinfeld. He's the best... in SMALL doses! But I wouldnt want a TV series about Newman. That wouldve taken away from him being such a strong "extra" on the show.

I'm really enjoying American Horror Story, but I LOVE TWD!! It's filled the vacuum left by BSG.

To me, I break each show down into components, and whichever wins is the one I like better:

Story - by far AMERICAN HORROR, a more compelling story arc with great use of setting up mystery with horror along with utilizing flashback's that tie up all questions. It's always entertaining and never dull.

Walking Dead feels as if they're dragging out some story arcs to the point where there's too much down time. The subplots/love triangles and such side stories are making me feel like I'm watch an episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Acting - no doubt AMERICAN HORROR has some the cream of the crop acting. When I watch it, I don't feel like I'm watching someone act the way I do when I watch WALKING DEAD. Jessica Lang will be nominated for an Emmy

Suspense - not only is every episode of AMERICAN HORROR suspenseful, but almost every other scene is as well!

Cinematography - every camera angle is well thought out in AMERICAN HORROR. Not only that, but the quality looks better/filmed better: better lights/darks/contrast (not to mention better sound)

Consistency - there hasn't been a bad episode of AMERICAN HORROR, while there's been a few lackluster episodes of WALKING DEAD.

Opening Credits - I used to think WALKING DEAD had the best opening credits with awesome textures, visuals and whatnot... until AMERICAN HORROR came out. Great textured visuals, creepy shaky imagery, dark-audio and twisted editing.

Frank Darabont vs. Ryan Murphy

Is this really a contest?

You don't like Ryan Murphy, correct? Obviously you won't choose his show...

It's comparing the show itself, not the person who created it

If TWD had a lot more zombies I'd maybe choose that but I'm more interested in AHS

Thumbs down

All his shows are contrived and paper thin with cliché plot twists and one dimensional, unlikable characters. Forgive me for burying him in the pile of hacks Hollywood executive clamor to because most people with zero taste eat his shit up.

Did you even bother to watch any of AHS? But like I said to you before, if you don't like him or any shows he's done there's no point. It's not which by "fact" is better, it's opinion on which you prefer if you could only have one, hence the poll.

I almost wish I can make it that all members MUST watch both shows in order to cast their vote, this way there'd be no bias.

I feel right now, it's a popularity contest. "Let the more popular show win". So The Walking Dead is killing!

I DVR and watch BOTH, and I like both shows, so I can honestly review the six pointes of interest:
Story
Acting
Cinematography
Consistency
Opening Credits

I stand by my favorite: American Horror Story

Default AHS nudges out WD

AHS has WAY better acting, WAY less "why don't they just do X" moments, and a better sense of suspense and plot movement. It also has hidden gems that you can pick up on in second or third viewings - that isn't really the case with WD. I think WD is also severely lacking in cinematography, film/digital processing, look, color/vibrance, and all things visual (aside from special effects and make-up - obviously WD is good there). Don't get me wrong, I still dig WD, and watch every episode... but it fell off early in this season. It picked up for the mid-season finale, but I think right now the edge goes to AHS, and this coming from a massive fan and proponent of the zombie genre.

I did. I watched the first two episodes. Didn't like it. So I didn't continue. I followed the advice of a certain member who said this in another thread...

If the show is bad enough, I don't continue on. I've seen enough of AHS to realize it's the same old shit that Murphy spoon feeds to his supporters. There really isn't a contest.

I don't think it is fair to completely judge the two as The Walking Dead has more episodes, and another season.

If I was judging The Walking Dead and American Horror Story on just season 1, I would probably say TWD. Based on the complete series run of TWD I might give it slightly to AHS. I think AHS started off fantastic but slowly turned into just another good show and not an epic amazing show.

Both are great. tough..

At least someone has. I was just wondering if you did or if you were basing it off your dislike of him
