Hello guys,
I just wanted to give you heads up on Lindsey's Songs From The Small Machine. I don't know if you have already had a chance to take a look at it, but if you have not, consider doing so. Beautiful, quite intimate show, and the presentation is also excellent. ![]() Lindsey Buckingham: Songs From The Small Machine, Live In L.A. You haven't steered me wrong yet Svet, so this is a definite buy for me. I've aways been a fan of Mr. Buckingham, both as a solo artist and his work with Fleetwood Mac. As an aside, and perhaps for those who are not overly familiar with his output, Lindsey is a world-class guitarist both on acoustic and electric, and I'm glad to see him getting a Blu-ray treatment!

Great review. One to put on the pick-up list.
One question though. You mention in the review that "there are audio dropouts to report on this blu-ray.", but you don't expand on that. Are the drop-outs consistent? Do they happen often? Are they distracting? Thanks. |

Sorry for the missing "no". When I pasted the text, I must have accidentally cut off the
"no" (I've corrected the text). Obviously, there are no dropouts ![]() I really like this disc, guys. I saw Lindsey perform not too long ago and this show really gives you an idea how good he is, both as a singer and guitarist. The acoustic set in the beginning is incredible (and John is spot on - LIndsey is an amazing guitarist). It is not an expensive disc, so take my words for granted and pick up a copy, guys. I know you will like the show as much as I did ![]() Pro-B Last edited by pro-bassoonist; 12-05-2011 at 03:28 AM. |

I really enjoyed this, but I would have preferred it to be an all acoustical show and not have the band with him. He did that when I saw him and it was simply superb! Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed this concert, but would have preferred an all acoustic show instead!
Pro-B I agree it's cheap and good. Can't beat that! ![]() |

I picked this up last week & was able to play about half of it over the weekend. What I saw was great. Excellent picture & amazing sound. Lindsey is definitely one of the most underrated guitarists around but is also one of the few with an amazing voice that can also write great songs.
When I first started watching I demoed about six songs & was underwhelmed with the sound. I checked the options & found that the disc defaulted to 2 channel. Once I switched to the 5.1 DTD HD MA track I was floored. Amazing sound. I got it for $11.99 & that is a great deal for this disc. I was able to catch him play maybe 10 years ago at a small club in San Diego with his band and he put on an amazing performace. He is one of the few guitarists I have seen that have me sitting there with my jaw on the floor (the others being Ritchie Blackmore, Richard Thompson, Brian Setzer & Buck Dharma of Blue Oyster Cult). Pet peeve: You can purchase a DVD/CD combo for this title, but no Blu Ray / CD combo. And no download code?
Adele has the right idea with her Live at the Royal Albert Hall Blu Ray release which includes a CD as well. If the music is good I'll often get more mileage from an audio only experience in the long run, and for that I would like some portability. Glad to hear it's a good performance/disc though. I purchased the 96/24 Tusk off HDTRACKS last week and it sounds excellent, (some of my favorite Lindsey tracks on that one) Last edited by blu2; 12-06-2011 at 09:47 PM. |

Not that I know of (which sucks!). Only the DVD-Audio releases of Rumours and Say You Will.

I went to a ton of these shows on this tour (and have seen him more times than I can ever count...even played the guitar from the crowd once). Even got to speak to Lindsey on occasion. At one point, was front row, had a sign that said, "Lindsey will you please sing at our wedding" to which he chuckled and told us he would definately have to get back with us.
My hero. One of the truly greatest guitarists of all time. Horribly and criminally under-rated. A musical genius! This Blu-Ray is gem in my collection! |
