The 80gb Playstation 3 is the best bet. It is also backwards compatible to play previous playstation 2 and 1 games.

What if you don't have PS2 games????? I don't see the reason to get 80GB other than that.

I bought the 40gb, now I kinda regret it. My baby fills up fast, now 20gb left. there's alot that you can do, I downloaded game demos, transferred all my song files to it, my photos, etc. This is a true entertainment machine. 80gb is a long term investment. Now my PS3 does everything from music player, blu-ray, internet browsing, and video games.

That's why you can always upgrade your hard drive.

Perhaps over 200 gig if you desire.

A PS3 is the better choice and, since you can, 80Gb is the best model available right now.

When I fire up the PS3 to watch a movie, I'm "happy"

When my Iphone goes off (vibrates, no ring here big-timers) more than likely it means I have to talk to someone I don't want to, about things I don't want to talk about...... (work work work)

PS3 all the way, and get a cheap free phone! That way you got the best of both worlds.

I have both and I must say I'm much happier with my PS3. Sure the iPhone is amazing technology... FOR A PHONE... but I mean come on, sure it gets the internet, sure it takes pictures, sure it plays mp3s, sure it does all those neat things... but it doesnt play blu-ray movies, it doesn't play ps3 games. It's a helpful gadget if that's what you're looking for, but if you're looking for ENTERTAINMENT get a PS3 no question. You will not regret it.

I use whatever phone my company provides me with for free. Currently a Blackberry with worldwide coverage. I'm not paying for a phone.

Weird choice really.
You must know what you need/want most... if you have 500 bucks to spend into something, it better be something you'll be using.

If you're never at home, and don't get to watch movies or play games, I guess you could get an iPhone.

If you like sitting in your comfortable sofa, with your wife giving you (not that, you buncha pervs) a foot massage, have a cold beer and watch a very poetic and tender movie (let's say "The 300"), then eject (again, it's not what you think) the movie disc and make the Devil cry (it's Devil May Cry 4 we talking about here), then you definetely grab a PS3 !

I guess people are unanimous about this, but then again, ain't we in a PS3 forum ?

I have a 320GB 3.5" external HDD (holds music collection) plugged into my 60GB PS3 -- cheaper byte for byte than replacing the 2.5" internal, plus indefinitely expandable.
