United Kingdom 100th Anniversary?

I know the film isn't 100 years old but has anyone noticed that banner saying 100th Anniversary collector's series? Just wondering if this could mean the old universal horrors such as Dracula and The Wolfman. This could also be a good excuse to release some of universals greatest films like Jaws and E.T.

Good to see another digibook release, shame about the fugly Universal banner.

EDIT: From the play listing
Quote:
  • Limited Edition Blu-ray packaging with 44 page book with Gregory Peck's script pages, personal letters, storyboards and much more!
  • Fearful Symmetry - A feature-length documentary on the making of To Kill A Mockingbird with cast and crew interviews
  • A Conversation With Gregory Peck - A feature-length documentary on one of the most beloved actors in film history with interviews, clips, home movies and more.
  • 100 Years of Universal: Restoring the Classics - An in-depth look at the film restoration process
  • Academy Award Best Actor Acceptance speech - Gregory Peck's speech after winning the Academy Award for his performance as Atticus Finch.
  • American Film Institute Life Achievement Award - Gregory Peck receiving the AFI Life Achievement Award
  • Excerpt from "Tribute to Gregory Peck" - Cecilia Peck's farewell to her father given at the Academy in celbration of his life.
  • Scout Remembers - Actress Mary Badham shares her experiences working with Gregory Peck
  • Feature commentary - with Director Robert Mulligan and Alan Pakula
  • Original theatrical trailer
This featurette caught my eye, '100 Years of Universal: Restoring the Classics - An in-depth look at the film restoration process'.
Can just imagine it now, "And at this stage the film has been meticulously restored, now its leaves here onto the DNR department..."

Have they colourised the film or is it just for the artwork ?

Just the artwork, I imagine. The DVD was the same - colourised screenshots on the back cover for no reason, with a black&white transfer.

Maybe the disc will have both, like Wonderful Life?

Seconded. This cover has a lot going on anyway without that Universal banner swooping across the cover and even more of the spine. It looks like this is the "100th Anniversary Collector's Series 50th Anniversary Edition Limited Edition".

The sad thing is, it's the bottom part (with the 'Limited Edition' banner and the QR code etc.) that will be removable.

Looks like the bottom of it might be one of those card 'tray' things because the shadow for the spine of the digibook stops when the Limited edition banner starts. Either way, £12.99 is a great price especially considering in the US this is going for like $28.

At Play, Amazon and even this sites listing, the cover seems to have changed. Still a big blu-ray banner but better than the Universal 100th Anniversary banner;

[Show spoiler]

If its printed on a wrap around sheet then thats great, but if its printed on the digibook itself that would be a shame. If that's the case, Universal remove the banner altogether and make it more like The Big Lebowski digibook.

I remember studying the book and watching this for my GCSE English exam, but we ended up doing Of Mice and Men instead. I'll definitely pick this up sometime in the future.

Is this going to packaged like The Big Lebowski digibook? I am pre-ordering this, as this will possibly go OOP and be replaced with a normal case

Back in the days of DVD, I would only pre-order BFI, Masters Of Cinema, Second Run or steelbooks, but I have found myself pre-ordering a few titles recently, where I could easily wait for the price to come down. This is down to the fact that there seems to be a lot of films coming out at the moment that I am really interested in. It doesn't do the old bank balance much good though

These QR codes are all well and good, as long as they keep them off the main packaging, as nothing ruins a good steelbook or digibook like extra crap printed on them

It's looking that way, although TBL stuck around in its digibook form for quite a while and there was fair warning when it was going be replaced. The smart play might be to wait until it takes its first price drop and then pick one up?

Of course, I've browsed around here enough to know that saving money is no barrier to most!
