Price Drops?

When do you guys think prices will come down on bluray products? For example when will the majority of the players come down around $500. And when should prices of movies come down to around $20-25? I think if Bluray can make this happen sooner rather than later they will have a big advantage or HD-DUD.

My guess is when the second gen players come out we'll see a pretty big price drop because by that time the blue laser diodes should be able to be produced for less and in larger quantities. Also the more people that adopt the format the cheaper the discs will be as well as the players, because its a simple economy of scale.

Blu-ray drives would have a minimum 50% drop starting next year.

Also, SCE is announcing the release of the smaller dieshrink version for the CELL processor in their PS3. (which means lesser heat and lesser power consumption)

First die shrink will be at 65nm and is expected to be in PS3 units shipped after H1 2007.

Next die shrink will be in 45 nanometers which would happen in late 2008-early 2009

Surprisingly, Sony has stated that they save money during die shrinks (huh?). Isn't it that you have to spend/invest money for processor die shrinks?!?!?!?!?

Oh well, if Sony thinks that they save money and allow for price cuts due to the die shrinks, then this could only be 100% POSITIVE NEWS ALL THE WAY
