Default No Pre Release comments?

I got Monty Python the Life of Brian friday. I watched it this weekend and wanted to post comments on it in the movie section of this site only to find that I can't post comments until the official release date. There are many websites that send movies as soon as they get them, in which case the consumer gets them before release. Why do we have to wait until release date to post comments?

I'm sure that there are many members interested in the quality of the transfer before they buy. If we are able to get those up earlier then why prevent us?

Thanks.

P.S. Video quality is near the best for an aged release that i have seen. Almost matching Enter the Dragon quality. Audio suffers only because the soundtrack isn't all that impressive.

just a hunch, but i'd guess one big reason is that many people will likely post reviews without having seen the movie. take a look at amazon, whose review process has become a complete joke. I know our member group is way above what happens there, but IMO it filters out a lot of potentially bad results.

Agreed, people start rating the Blu-ray based on what they saw in the theatres or based just on what they heard or anticipate, etc. It's disappointing.

Same thing happens on game reviews on IGN.

Although, nothing really stops someone from doing that after it gets released, so I guess it would be pretty annoying if you did get a copy early

My point is that I sometimes will look at the comments to see if I want to buy a blu. The reviews aren't always up prior to release on high def releases and i've come to trust many of the posters on these forums. Enabling pre-release comments would allow for those who are on the fence about a movie to get information quicker so that they can more readily enjoy their blu-rays.

Has this always been locked out, or was it a recent decision? I can't recall a previous occassion when I looked at pre-release movies and saw that comments could not be posted.

Do you really want a new thread for every new blu release?
