Default Updating to Profile 1.1 or 2.0

Does anyone know if the BDP-S300 get a firmware update to be compatible with some of the new features coming out of discs like Resident Evil:Extinction and War?

It is very unlikely any 1.0 profile dedicated players will ever get the upgrade. It's just not hardware capable

The PS3 already has an upgrade available for profile 1.1, and it is upgradeable to 2.0.

If your player does not have internet connectivity or the possibility for it (i.e. ethernet port) it will not be upgradeable to profile 2.0.

How hard is it to download a iso from firmware on this site and burn to a dc-r and play it in a bd stand alone player. ?

Not hard at all.
The hard part is not having a secondary video processor for the 1.1 features oe ethernet and additional on board memory for 2.0 features.

So you see the issue is not firmware but lack of hardware.
