Patch 1.04 tomorrow. Activation of party system, so finally friend's/clans, etc... can group up in classic mode and play the game with strategy and tactics. Playing within a group that communicates will be so much better for strategy than playing with randoms lol.

I don't know, supposedly their patch notes thread stated a major mic system overhaul in the game would be coming this summer, so the party chat may or may not be in this patch. The official forums say the full 1.04 patch notes will be released on their blog tomorrow before the patch goes live, and that they'll then start going into details on patch 1.05 sometime after that.

Another month of post-release play is in the books for SOCOM 4, and your help in tracking down issues and exploits for us has been an invaluable resource as we continue to move forward with updates. This latest patch, scheduled for deployment this morning, July 12, during our regular maintenance window, is definitely our most exciting yet! Boasting the long-awaited activation of our SOCOM Party system, we’ve made playing with your friends much more convenient. We’ve also included a number of other additions and alterations which you can read about in our patch notes below.

This isn’t all the SOCOM info we have planned for the summer of course, as you’ll want to check back with us throughout the season as we return with details regarding what to expect in our next patch as well as the official announcement and details of our upcoming downloadable content. In the meantime, enjoy the latest SOCOM revision and have fun storming enemy lines!

Gameplay

- Added “Party” system to primary multiplayer interface which allows players to invite other users to play with them in a persistent group until disbanded (up to 16 total players)

- Fixed bug that sometimes prevented Bomb Squad and Uplink matches to end properly despite one team winning the required number of rounds

- Players who do not have SOCOM Pro can now “Scavenge” Pro-associated weapons on the battlefield for a limited time use (does not unlock them permanently)

Weapons and Gear

- Added additional weapon “knock” to single and burst-fire modes for all weapons to limit possible rapid-fire exploits

Interface

- Games played under “Classic” rules now implement an “open” mic system for players in the Spectator lobby

- Added “open” mic functionality to all transition screens for games played under “Classic” rules

- Added “Games Played” statistics for SOCOM Pro maps

- Fixed issue that caused post-game text to display incorrectly at the end of a round or match

Technical

- Added functionality to allow all Gametypes to support independent XP bonuses

- Mics are now muted for the first five seconds of every round to reduce echo/ feedback from mass “round start” messages

- Implemented a number of stability fixes

I think more are playing it, especially hardcore SOCOM players, since this last update.

that's awesome! the MP is still very active, mainly supression, though.

You mean campfest. A classic suppression game takes about an hour and remember you don't respawn in them. So people just hide for the entire round. You get killed right off the bat, you sit there for whatever it is, 5 minutes, twiddling your thumbs. And it often goes the full time because people camp. I don't play that crap anymore. I think its worse then the original SOCOM titles due to COD mindset players who are trained to sit in the corner and rack up kill streaks. I do medleys. That way you can't sit and camp, you have to do something to win the round. But as you said, most play suppression so you often find yourself waiting for enough players to start a medley room.

To me, if you want to play classic, its worth the wait for a medley room or bomb squad. If you play classic, uplink gets the most points per game.

I go back and forth between classic medleys and Custom Pro Standard Medley's, and throw in some Standard Suppression at times too. I love the game. I would recommend startingout with the Sub machine gun class, choose the KP5 and the PDW and get them to Mod 5, then try to get some Assault rifles up to Mod 5, I personally like the IW for the Seals and the M4A1 for the insurgents. Be sure to input your Socom Pro code from the back of the instruction manual and download the assault map packs.

For those that have enjoyed the SOCOM series a movie is coming in Feb. that is unlike any that has ever been made. Its cast includes active duty Navy SEALs and is based on real SEAL missions. This is the most realistic movie on SEALs to date and much of it reminds me of what we have seen in the SOCOM game series.

They added DLC, classic style Demolition. I've just gotten into BF3 and a little into MW3 its hard to do no respawn. Although, it does have respawn style too, it needs more maps.
