United Kingdom Not Loving the HMV sale ......

Just looked online, didn't notice this sale yesterday?

Most are either the normal price on Blu Rays or more expensive than before ??

Bought Batman Anthology £9.99 - Now £14.99
Bought Leathal Weapon £12.99 - now £19.99
Bought Bourne Trilogy £11 - now £17.99
Bought Matrix Trilogy £12.99 - now £19.99

All those Sony Collectors, I picked up Midnight Express and Boyz in the Hood £5.99 (they've always seemed to be 2 for £15) Now £7.49, but I'm sure they've been £7.49 for months ??

Naff, Naff Sale - Its like an anti sale ?

Wow just seen HP 1 - 8 set (standard) £44.99 - It was £32.30 when I bought it and was that price as recent as yesterday

With HMV posting so much losses, wondering if they would get the pricing right.

Im sure the prices will drop again. Its probably just one of those times where they have to sell at a higher price so that the after Christmas discount levels appear genuine

Planet of The Apes collection (the old one, without rise of) £68.99!
it was £13 at zavvi a few days ago...

Alien Anthology £37.99...

LOTR £54.99

I can't find anything that's actually reduced in price

The great HMV Anti-Sale !

Going forward today 21/12/11, shall be known as "White Wednesday".

Where for a limited time only, items will be available for more money than ever before.

The high street stores will probably go in 6months, They'll probably end up being just an online store.

Can you guys really see HMV disappearing from the high street?

The one in Guildford is ALWAYS packed. I don't think there is another store like this now Virgin/Zavvi has gone, WHSmiths is shocking for Blu/DVD and Blockbusters seem to be vanishing from the high street. We never had a Best Buy round here, but they've gone.

I can see the possible answer to my question, within my question... All stores selling Blu Rays and DVDs are going, but surely one must stay

Isn't HMV the Highlander of media stores ??

Online will be gone as soon as the new UK tax changes come into place. They simply don't make any money from online whatsoever and it was only ever set up to have a 'face' on the web.

Nope, they're ****ed!

The few busy stores they have still don't make enough to cover the massive rents they have to pay. There just is not the profit margin in the products they sell to be able to afford to last with such dwindling sales and online competition. Not to mention they are run by dinosaurs who have no idea what they are doing.....

I noticed this today aswell and I just kept thinking as I went through the pages "this is not in any way a sale!". Just about all the prices have increased rather than decreased!! Half Price? Yeah, half the price then add it on to the original price!

I don't see what they gain by advertising the sale but not reducing the prices yet, and in some cases, increasing them. Everyone knows there will be a sale, they just look like they are trying to con people into thinking it's started already.

I think it's pretty obvious the decision behind these prices, is "it's one of the busiest shopping days of the year so lets just bump up all the prices".

Old sale product would've been repriced (IE the stuff thats on the shelves now) and the new titles will be put out on Christmas Eve.
