Default Anyone with experience in Blu-Ray Scenarist HDMV authoring?

Watching blue ray menu's I see that they can gradually fade in and not just pop up abruptly, also they can gradually come up from below. I know there is the IG effects function, but it appears that it will only do one graphic, not the whole menu. Anyone have experience working with this effect/function?

What program are you using? Scenarist HD... Blu-Print... or a more prosumer level program?

They could be just using simple motion menus...Like DVDit Pro you can have different motion menu on the button. This means you have to create a "fade" for each button, not too tough if you use something like AfterEffects.

I am using Scenarist HDMV. Example : If i have a pop up menu with three buttons Play, Chapters, Extras....if i hit the Chapters button i want a sliding menu coming up from down that has the chapter names on it.

I've played with Scenarist a bit, and watched others (who know what they're doing) use it some, but I'm not going to be any help here. There arfe a few users here with extensive experience on Scenarist HD, though. They'll probably catch your question tonight. You might edit the title to indicate Scenarist so they take a look.

I really am not impressed when I read so many people have "used" or have "access to" Scenarist BD. People asking for help with Scenarist should be well aware that you take great risk when you ask for help with an illegally aquired program with the status of Scenarist.

And it's equally obnoxious when people assume the software is illegally acquired. We own a Scenarist HDMV license but we're a small facility. Sending someone to California for training at Sonic isn't an option for us because we can't afford to lose someone for a few days straight. So we're struggling through the learning curve by working late to figure this out.

The Scenarist manual is light on the tutorials. So light, it floats. There are basically no instructions on how to go about making a disc, just lots of specific instructions on completing specific tasks. So it's up to the user to fight through it and ask a million questions, blindly, of Sonic Technical support, or to send someone out there for training. Frankly, I have serious issues with any software that *requires* training to use - it says to me that it's pretty poorly designed from a usability perspective, and Scenarist always has been. (training to hone advanced skills is something different - basic usage should be intuitive).

In any case, this is the application we chose because the alternative (Sony's software) was not something we wanted to get involved in. Sony tends to drop products with no notice, and we can't afford that. I, for one, welcome any tutorials, how-tos, and instructions given by those who have some experience.

Companies relying on cracked software will get burned in other ways. For those of us who are legit but are frustrated by the lack of documentation, help is welcome.

Since the OP already made it quite clear that his/her company has a legal license I won't drag the matter out further other than to say that when I mentioned that I had "played with" the software before, it was at a production house in LA where they most certainly have a legal license to the software. I don't think anyone here was trying to "impress" you, but you should realize that this community has A LOT of members who are either in the industry... or at least somewhat connected to it.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure what your point was... Scenarist HD (and Blu-Print for that matter) are pro tools that are pretty damn unusable to your average consumer (unless everyone in the world learned to code Java while I was napping). I really can't believe there's any kind of illegal market for such software.

Here, here! You also make an interesting point about companies using unlicensed software. I always think of piracy as being a problem among consumers rather than unscrupulous production companies, etc. I suppose there probably is a market then for illegally obtained software like this, but it really does seem like you'd be asking for major issues (no support, no updates, possibility of hidden protections that alert a replicator that you mastered with unlicensed software, etc).
