Default newb questions

Hello, I just recieved a blu-ray burner for christmas and want to know how to start backing up some of my blu-rays. I have the ASUS External Blu-Ray burner (link below to help show which one it is) and I have some BD-Rs and .mkv files. I wanted to know the best methods and software for burning these .mkv files to the BD-Rs so they can play on any blu-ray player. Thank you

I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times already, so bear with me...I have a Samsung blu-ray drive I installed in my new pc this past spring. Is Cyberlink the only game in town when it comes to software for running blu-ray on a pc? It came with PowerDVD9 which no longer has updates meaning I can't play the new Star Wars movies, and likely more titles to come it won't play. I have to upgrade to PowerDVD11 it seems? I sense where this is going; to pick my pocket once a year or so for the latest and greatest. Is everyone else with a pc based blu-ray drive going through the same thing? Thanks....

There's Arcsoft. I had better success with them than Cyberlink. I wish WMC would get with the program and add BD support themselves.
