Does anyone know if region A players can be purchased here in Australia?

I think its been talked about a few times, about certain models that can be unlocked from JB, but the last I heard of one, it wasn't a good player.

Not out of the box. There is a hardware mod set for Oppo players that can be obtained from eBay (a.o. places) whch is easily installed.

Just noticed this player is $79.00 Delivered at the moment, if it had Subtitle shift I would pick one up myself.

thanks for your responses guys, ok another question then, has anyone ever ordered a Blu Ray player from the U.S and had it delivered to Australia?
any problems or issues, was it packaged well?

Not ordered a BD player but have had one of these delivered, with no problems.

I grabbed a Toshiba BD player from Harvey Norman today and it has a disc with it to make it region free for dvd and region swithable for BD and its so easy to do even the wife can switch the BD region without problem and it was $94.

the mod kits for oppo are very modestly priced from local merchants-they do not require soldering-what more can any one expect? and th pro version is updateablr

Toshiba have 2 models that come with the "region free" firmware disc, a 2D and a 3D, all the info should be here
