I really want to get my Panny TH-50PZ77U calibrated and am looking into getting the Digital Video Essentials to help me.
At first, I thought I should wait until the DVE Blu-ray comes out. But now I'm wondering if the regular version would be fine due to the fact that the calibration is for the TV, not the BD player. What makes the most sense here? |

You could look for a used copy of the DVD now, but I would wait for the BD version. No matter which version, you tweak the settings of your TV, not your player, so the hi-def version would give you the best test patterns, as they would all be sharper than their SD counterparts, if I am not mistaken. Imagine adjusting the black levels on your TV for a standard def. movie versus the same movie in hi-def, you will see the fine details in the shadows more on the blu-ray version.
