Hi guys,
I ordered Captain America 3D from Amazon.co.uk when it was first released and when I received it it came in the packaging that looks like it's been repackaged (if you know what I mean). So I sent it back and they sent me another one that came in the proper celophane wrapping. Unfortunately this one was damaged so I had to send that back. After the second time I had to wait for a refund and I ordered it again. It's turned up today and again it's not in the normal celophane wrapping, more like the wrapping of the first one that looks like it's been re-wrapped. I've actually taken the wrapping off this one and the plastic that holds the inlay slip in place is quite wrinkled but the disks look OK. I sent the first one back after I read on here that that sort of exterior wrapping is a re-wrap of a returned item (but as it was received on the day of release I don't see how it could be). So can you let me know if you think this one is also like that? I've opened it now so not sure if Amazon will accept the return anyway but I don't like the case plastic being all wrinkled... am I being picky? And is it a re-wrap do you think? Thanks, Richard. |

My Captain America bought the week of release has cellophane instead of shrinkwrap.
For those that can't always tell the different cellophane (although it probably isn't cellophane) has openings at the top and bottom of the case folded over and stuck down. Shrinkwrap has a plastic film heated around the product to make it tight around the object it's covering. Both methods are used by companies or individuals re-sealing DVD's or BD's. New releases are usually a mixture of the two, you may even find the same product wrapped two different ways. But as you said having a new release re-sealed is very unlikely. As for the wrinkled case I'd send it back if you don't have spare cases (or don't feel happy with paying for damaged cases), often they're a product of hotter climates (or they may have been affected by the heat from the shrinkwrap). My sister opened a Christmas present the other night and that had wrinkled plastic on the back cover (it was a replacement for an opened damaged wrinkled case from before Christmas) but the printed cover was fine (they usually are). |

Yes, you're being picky, stop sending stuff back,(damaged case aside), that has nothing wrong with it.
No, it's not a re-wrap. Paramount don't use cellophane any more. Most companies don't use cellophane here any more, all part of cheapening out on materials, etc. And yes, it can wrinkle the case plastic. Let it go, Indiana. Let it go. ![]() |
