Damaged speakers?

I was watching a movie(rocky Horror Picture show) the other night with poor sound mixing while walking on the treadmill. At one point the volume was at -4. How do I check to see if any damage has been done to the speakers? I have listened to them, raised and lowered the levels. They seem to be ok but just don't sound right to me. Are there other ways to check the speakers?

1. Make sure all the screws attaching the drivers to the cabinet are tight.
2. Use a magnifying glass and inspect the drivers carefully to make sure there no tears or holes in them.
3. Use a battery (e.g., a 9 volt battery) and repeatedly connect and disconnect the battery from the speaker and check and make sure the drivers are moving in and out.
4. You can take each driver out and do the experiment in part 3 with the battery.

If everything is ok, get a hammer and hit yourself on the head and stop worrying.

I should hit myself for watching that movie. It was terrible. I don't know why people loved it in college.

It was one of those things back then for college kids to dress funny, get high, and go watch a bad movie at midnight. It was more about partying and having fun when you are high as opposed to watching a good movie.
