Default Need help... need to build OUT a screen.

Because I want to install corner and panel bass traps on the screen wall I need to make a frame to move away my 130" screen from the wall. How do I do that? Do I just stack 4 pieces of 2x4 top and bottom and attach the screen to that? Has anyone done this? Any examples?

I'm having difficulty visualizing what you are trying to accomplish with the 2x4's? My screen is out from the wall for other reasons and I have built on some cupboards for extra storage... would something like that be an option for you?

If I understand correctly you are wanting to install bass trap panels on the screen wall so you would like to mount your screen forward so it is flush with the edge of the panels. If this is correct then the 2x4 frame should work fine assuming it is the same thickness as the panels. You could also consider leaving the screen where it is and mounting the panels around it, creating a 'shadow box' type arrangement.

Almost like that. But....

You see how I have it now the screen is flush with the wall. I would like to move it away from the wall and install few 4" thick panels behind it as well as large corned trap on the lower right corner. To do that I have have the screen 6" away from the front wall.
