I want to know your opinion regarding the Audio of Finding Nemo... Disney said that it will be 7.1 - they've always released PCM Audio in the past... it will take 9.216Mbps if they release this with an uncompressed audio. Will they continue releasing on PCM with 7.1? or will they choose a lossless audio (Dolby/DTS)? Will it compromise the video quality? thanks...

Max Combined for Blu-Ray : 50mbits You you see.. with a 9.216mbits track, a 640k track in English, French and Spanish you have about 11.2mbits for Audio witch leave 38mbits TOP for Video. Considering that Cars rarely goes over 30mbits.. there's still a lot of place! |

If it's 7.1, it will most likely be DTS MA. I think Disney too will start to move away from PCM.

Where are you getting your information. They have up to this point used nothing but PCM. Sony started that way but has since started using, not completely TrueHD. But unless you can show me proof that they are moving away, then Disney and PCM, it's always been a top quality issue and Disney always delivers the best quality BD's.

I think Disney may go with Dolby TrueHD or DTS HDMA on this release. The gradations of the deep sea may require a lot more bits for video. They don't want to see us complaining about banding.

If I know Disney, they will deliver the best quality that will play on the widest base of players. How many parents will leave the kids with the best player in the house?

I am for the 7.1 PCM as well! If Liongate can do 7.1 PCM, then surely Disney can do it one better. Liongate has mostly done 7.1 PCM, beginning with, I believe, Waiting.
And Fox only has a max of 6.1 surround so far, and that's with X3. Liongate (Saw IV) and New Line both have done 7.1 DTS-HD MA. |

Disney uses LPCM 2.0 on a few of their newer Japanese Studio Ghibli releases like The Secret World of Arrietty, Whisper of the Heart, Howl's Moving Castle, Tales from Earthsea, Ponyo and From up on Poppy Hill along with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.0/5.1/6.1 track.
