There isjust something about owning the actual movie physically rather then storing it on a hard drive.

Hard drives are great for music/mp3s but when it comes to movies, I like being able to take it with me, to play at a friends house, or on a laptop, etc.

I'll switch to digital download over HDM when I can download any movie, tv show, sporting event or music video nearly instantly or streamed, and download it to any device like my home theater, laptop, or iPod, and then own it forever so it's not a rental or no need to re-download, and it's so cheap an Ethiopian kid could afford it.

Until that mystical day arrives, I am Blu.

I have no interest in d/l movies. I don't seeing it becoming mainstream anytime in the foreseeable future. Non-technical people will go out and buy a DVD player, and perhaps at some point a BD player, but I don't see them going out and buying a computer, then signing up for high-speed internet and learning how to d/l movies. The day of d/l it in a more convenient fashion in a fast, reliable and mainstream way is way, way off.

I love how HD-DVD folks fought tooth and nail to be the HD format going forward, but now that the reality of BD's win is slowly starting to sink in, suddenly this whole HDM war and BD's victory are meaningless because download is the way of the future. Dream on.

Finally, an article on why Blu-ray Disc will be the choice, not digital downloads. Like many people said, it is not happening in the foreseeable future.
