The HD DVD fanboys are eatting up the player bargins though.
Over at AVS, it seems a lot of these cheap price players are being bought as 2nd, 3rd or even as a 4th player for the same home.
No wonder the disc sales aren't changing since these new players are going into homes that already own/support HD DVD.

It's also funny how they try to pursuade new comers to buy HD DVD because you get 5 free discs.
A selection of 15 to chose 5 from in which are movies most wouldn't buy anyway or probablt own on SD DVD.

I guess because I own both and am very pleased to be able to see any movie that is available in high definition, I don't think the article is that far off.

It has valid points just like many have valid opposite points in the debate.

I love movies and want to be able to view them and don't dislike HD DVD.

My main desire is to see the BDA improve the format and finish the specs with built in decoders for lossless audio in all the new players (including the new one I hear Sony is working on right now) and get the players out at reasonable prices before the end of the year.

The arguments for promoting a single format in order to (God willing!) get "any movie" are well-documented. People who don't get this are, IMHO, obstacles to that goal.

In case you hadn't noticed, we're not here to debate the merits of Blu-ray vs. HD DVD. We're here because we've already determined which format to support and that's Blu-ray. Why are you here?

See my point above about "seeing any movie". Instant gratification is seldom a mature or ideal solution. So glad you "don't dislike HD DVD".

FYI, the specs are finished (or, as finished as specs can be). Why do you believe otherwise? "Reasonable prices" are in the eye of the beholder. If you think HD DVD's prices are reasonable at this point in the product cycle, one need only look at the other CE's who've rushed to support HD DVD - except there really aren't any. Everyone here wants to improve the format, but limiting CE's to fixed configurations and reducing their profits to virtually nil isn't a recipe for success, as the current state of HD DVD demonstrates.

Goes to show the bad side of the Internet. This idiot could never have existed in print media only with ridiculous articles like that.

Good reason to stick with HD DVD? There are none. That is going to become even more apparent in June once Warner Brothers jump ship.

They generally deal with high end home theater equipment...their magazines are some of the best around (the kind that make you envy rich folks ). Expensive too. But they do have a tendency to be retarded from time to time, such as this.

I could not even get page 2 to load. lol. What were reasons 2 and 3?

1 was hardware bargains....dead hardware..okay I'll buy that. NOT.

let me guess 2: Bad Paramount remasters

and 3: Micro$oft will pay you to stay?

Am I right?

Is this really a NEW article? Amazing.

As I have said before, don't let the puny web left-wingers get you riled up. The majority of people NEVER see that crap, and half the readers are smart enough to know crap when they smell it.

HA! Page 2 doesn't come up. Even their server ran out of space!

DUD supporters crack me up! I almost feel bad for them. Even if blu only had 2 studios, I would have jumped ship by now. I cant believe there are people out there willing to have only 20% of the movies out on the market
